099. Blown Up

This is the thirty-ninth submission for my attempt at looneytunerian's Pokeshipping 100 Theme Challenge.

99. Blown Up
"Hey, Misty..."
"Yeah?"
"I, uh... I love you."
"Me too."
(English Translation of the Japanese Text)
Listen to My Most Precious Treasure to get a good feel for this theme! ;)
I had decided quite some time ago to do a few of the last 7 themes on the list as something more serious than comical. I mean, there were some themes I knew I couldn't do seriously or else it'd be too graphic to show (like Crushed or Flattened) but there were some that could be taken to an acceptable level without it being horribly traumatic (like Burned). This theme, despite its title, is one of those themes. Or rather, I guess it's sorta one of those themes; I focused more on the emotional aspect of this situation rather than showing the actual event. It felt right for me to do so, and not to mention that I already decided to do it like this. Though, the initial draft was to have Ash protectively hugging a scared Misty in the middle, and then something like Team Rocket (or some other bad guys) in the upper right blatantly acting like the catalyst for the impending explosion and some supporting characters (like Ash's Mom, etc) in the bottom left corner being emotionally affected.
Oh yeah, and just in case you're wondering, I did indeed draw this in inspiration of MiyaToriaka's many and well-made Pokeshipping collages. ^_^ My initial draft (that never got put down onto paper, unfortunately) would've looked like a better tribute/inspiration but... Alas, I ended up drawing something that can be labeled as 'simpler'. ^_^;; Here's hoping this isn't a complete failure!
And if you're wondering why "Insert-Character-Here" isn't in the theme, it's purely due to spacial issues. I decided to draw only the Original Series characters (Gary, Prof. Oak, and Ash's Mom) and traveling companions (along with Pikachu & Azurill) because they were the ones closest to Ash and/or Misty. I could've added Piplup with Dawn but it was a little late in the game (and a bout of laziness) for me to do so. (Also, I could only draw the expression of distressed/worried for so long before it became tiresome on both sides - as in me and you guys. ^_^;; )
