082. Holding Hands

This is the twenty-fourth submission for my attempt at looneytunerian's Pokeshipping 100 Theme Challenge.

82. Holding Hands
Whoops, almost a month since I posted in my blog! And it's a nice, new one too. ^_^;; It's mostly because of same old, same old; work, sleep, and doing Gaia commissions. However, I've managed to squeeze in just a wee bit of time for the Pokemon Theme Challenge with this little piece. So let's begin the... explanation of it? (What do you even call this part, I don't even. D: )

So, I knew that I wanted to focus on the hands first and foremost because of the theme title. It didn't matter if I was going to show the rest of their bodies at all, just as long as the focus was on the hands. As it turns out, I really did focus on the hands. To the point where you could actually switch in any other character's hand for Misty's and it wouldn't be a problem. Can't say if that's an unintended mistake or not but who cares! The important thing to remember is that this is an Ash/Misty Theme Challenge and not Ash/May or Ash/Dawn or even Ash/Casey! So, the ruling is that that is Misty on the right. Full stop. :)

Moving onto the technical side of things, I wanted to add in the spots traditionally, or rather I wanted to use a white pen (deco or otherwise) to draw them in but was a wee bit too afraid of ruining the art as a result. ^_^;; I'd rather have the safety of digital where I can go back and change something if I don't like it. Granted I could've tested the white spots on a copy of the art, but I didn't have a copy on hand to test with. Oops. ^_^;; Also, with digital I was able to get the nice glow-y bokeh effect that I wouldn't have been able to get if I just used a white pen. So, it really works out in the end.

Another thing about the technical bit, I didn't have as much bleeding outside the lineart this time around! Maybe it was due to thicker lines, but who cares?! I'm just frickin' happy I didn't have the edit the thing so heavily this go-round! Whoo! 8D

Anyway, here's hoping y'all get a nice, fuzzy, romantic feeling from this theme. I probably should've softened the background with a light pink or some other warm color, but I didn't think to nor did I really know how without messing up the art itself. Oh well. ;)

Here's hoping next time won't be nearly a month from now! 8D See ya!
