This is the eighty-first submission for my attempt at looneytunerian's Pokeshipping Theme Challenge.
78. Trapped
Whoops. ^_^;;; Um... Happy New Year, everyone? I didn't really think I'd go 5 months without a personal art peep. (I did do some Gaia Online requests before Christmas but that was about it.) Sorry for going AWOL, guys. I didn't mean to but, y'know, life. ^_^;;
Anyway, time for me to talk about this theme, eh? Uh, simply put, I wanted to draw the "stuck in a box together" thing that people love to draw. It's a fairly well known idea (maybe) and I wanted to see if I could get one done. To which I found out while trying to sketch it, I am actually fairly bad at anatomical positioning. ^_^;; My first few tries were terrible. It was honestly embarrassing to look back on some of them. Y'know, 'cause if it wasn't the positioning that was getting me, it was the kids' proportions within the box itself. I kept drawing them too small to fill up the box and to try and compensate I would end up making them too long and therefore look 'older'. It was just... ugh, I'm friggin' amazed I was able to finally get this done without screwing up so bad. And as for the positioning, I didn't want to go with anything to risqué since I wanted to draw them à la their canon selves but I didn't want to too distant from each other where it wasn't appealing to the audience.
So, guess what I did? Oh how life can influence art. I ended up having to position myself in my own hallway to try and see what kind of pose I could go with that wasn't too much of one end of the spectrum. Ended up coming up with the ones you see above. Now, if you're wondering where both of their left arms are, I shall tell you. Ash's arm is helping to keep his body steadily upright while Misty is clutching her arm as tight to her body as she can. To my knowledge, given her position to the 'camera', her left arm and hand should be totally invisible to us.
Oh yeah, speaking of Misty (and as just a short aside), I also had trouble determining which way to have them viewed. Should it be from Ash's side profile or Misty's? Would I be able to do a 3/4 view? I ended up deciding on Ash's front and Misty's side/back for the sake of ease on drawing their legs. I... was having trouble not giving Misty thick thighs when trying for her front. It was embarrassing as well. ^_^;;
And with that, I feel like that's all I have to say for this one. Once again, I sincerely apologize for my silence for the last 5 months. It was definitely unplanned. ^_^;; But don't worry, I'm going to try and get another theme out before the end of the month! (That's when my RL job gets super busy for me, unfortunately.) If you don't see anything from me, know that I will feel great shame for failing all of you. Anyway, see y'all next theme! ;)
