This is the eightieth submission for my attempt at looneytunerian's Pokeshipping Theme Challenge.
66. Family
Dude, my account says that this is my 100th post to my blog! Whoo~! Milestones~! 8D Not to mention, this is 80th theme I've done! Only 20 more themes left before this challenge is complete! Oh my goodness~!
So, yeah, like I said at the end of the previous theme (#76 for those curious folks of the future), I totally cheated and went with the exact same coloring style for this theme as I did for that one. It's not because I was like, "Oh man, I really want to hit eighty themes right now but I don't want to have to go full out for it; lemme just copy the one I just finished." I genuinely felt that soft airbrushing the color on top the clean pencil lines gives a gentle and cozy atmosphere to the picture which, coincidentally, was the same air I wanted to give to the last one. So, I guess the reason why these two themes came out back-to-back is because of how thematically similar they are to one another. ^_^ Which may be considered lazy by some, but it's whatever.
Oh yeah, guess I'll talk about the idea process for this one. This is one of those themes where I had an initial idea that hit the right note so well that I didn't even think to change it. I know I could've taken this theme as a "What Would Their Kids Look Like?" kind of deal, but that's already been done by plenty of others out there who are way more creative than me and aren't even doing this challenge. (Not to mention, I am horrible with coming up with fan OCs that are supposed to be based off canon characters. ^_^;; ) What I wanted to highlight was the connection between Ash and Misty and their respective families. More specifically, their connection to the others' families. We've only seen a small handful of times where Misty and Delia interact and Ash has had only one major on-screen interaction with Misty's sisters if I recall correctly. And I absolutely love what I saw. In fact, I wish they had shown more of it (despite knowing full well the show is predominantly Action/Adventure for kids). And if you're a Pokeshipper like me, you more than likely subscribe to the idea that Delia treats Misty as her daughter-in-law already. XD I mean, there was even a opening theme (Japanese only) to the anime in which Misty and Delia were on the Queen of Hearts card (as seen here). I know it's all circumstantial 'evidence' for something that was never confirmed (mutual at least) but as the saying goes 'let dreaming shippers lie'.(Or was it 'sleeping dogs'?) XP
As for Misty's sisters? I'd have no doubt that they'd be total shippers on deck and would totally jump at the chance to poke some harmless fun at their future brother-in-law. XD Welcome to the Sea of Estrogen, Ash. Hope you enjoy your stay~ XP
Well, that's all I have for now. Here's hoping I can get through the remaining 20 themes within a reasonable timeframe that's shorter than the 4-5 years it's taken me so far. XD
