This is the third (3rd) of seven (7) submissions for Bruedance's ColorFeelFul Challenge.
For me, the color indigo makes me feel sad, melancholic, and low-key.
Happy April 1st, everyone! And no, this is not an April Fool's joke. Just an ill-timed choice that came about because I wanted to post these before I went back to work the next day... and I didn't finish these until late into the night when I was feeling super sleepy. So, yeah, don't freak out or anything. This is the real deal stuff. I'm not good with pranks anyway. XD
Anyway, let's talk about this color theme, or rather let's talk about why I associate such negative emotions with it. I think because it's because the color in and of itself reminds me of nighttime and that time of the day is usually where one (myself included) has a lot of dark and depressing thoughts. Thoughts of one's own mortality, the mortality of others, general anxieties that occur throughout the day, the anxieties of the future, and I am no exception to these thoughts. The absence of light and the absence of conscious people can really drive you into some dark feelings, especially if you live by yourself and/or have a poor sleeping schedule (like I do). So, yeah, those are my feelings. I know that can be very depressing for some of you, especially those whose favorite color is indigo. Let me just say, though, that my association with the color does not mean I dislike it or that it shouldn't be someone's favorite color. It's just more of my subconscious at work and I do very much love this color. It's very beautiful even with such a somber association.
As for the posing this time around, I went with Rurouni Kenshin. Specifically, I decided to go with a pose from the last arc of the manga that never made it to the anime. The Jinchu Arc, while subjectively not the most bombastic or gripping as the previous arcs depending on who you ask, was quite a big closing arc for the series. We deal with an enemy that hits a sore spot in Kenshin's past more than any other enemy so far, and we have a major fake-out that actually left me bawling when I first read it despite knowing full well that it had to be a fake-out. So, for anyone who has never read the manga or hasn't gotten to the Jinchu Arc yet, I won't spoil it. Just know that we get to see Kenshin hit a serious low point in that arc and it is heartbreaking to see him like that. Catatonic and head hung low; that is the pose for this theme. (By the way, I drew Ash in his Sinnoh outfit because of the popped collar. I wanted to cover his mouth but didn't feel like using his original series outfit. Don't ask me why.)
Well, get ready, folks, because the next color isn't going to be exactly happier than this one. In fact, it may or may not be worse, depending on who you are.
